Our beef with no steroids or growth hormones and feed them non pesticide sprayed grass and alfalfa hay we bale ourselves. We feed a mix of ground corn and supplement grain as well as access to natural minerals and clean water. These cow have a dry lot with 24/7 access to their hay water and shelter In the summer they can come and go in a barn with fans. In the winter they have access to a barn with heat lamps. Although fans and heat lamps are not necessary for these hearty cattle, we believe in making our animals as comfortable as possible while they are here. We believe happy cows makes better beef.
We breed and raise the cattle and therefore know exactly what they have been eating and how they have been treated. Our meat tends to be a bit leaner our hamburger does not have much fat to drain yet our steaks have a good marbling.
You can find our beef for sale in ground 1 pound packs, steaks, roasts, ribs, all beef hot dogs, liver, tongue, heart, ect at the Alton Farmers Market packaged for resale by a USDA inspected facility.

We raise a variety of chickens and turkeys for eggs. We pride our selves on raising happy healthy chickens just as we do with all the animals on the farm. These girls are quite spoiled, they get daily treats of vegetables, fruits, grains, and breads. Electrolytes and Vitamins.
The girls have multiple spacious coops with fans in the summer and heat in the winter. We have a chicken door to the out side play pen pasture for them so we can close it at night to prevent any predators for getting in.
We our very proud of our rainbow "Hen friendly, farm fresh Eggs". We are licensed through the Illinois Dept. of Agriculture and the inspector always comments how happy and spoiled are chickens are.
You can stop by and get them at the house for $5.00 a dozen M-f 8-8 and on most weekends although we do travel and camp with the horses on weekends periodically.

While we do offer farm raised poultry as well that is not the same as our egg laying chickens. When our hens no longer lay eggs they get to retire and live out their lives here on the farm. They have worked hard for us and are rewarded for that. Most of them have names and personalities as well.

We do offer pasture raised poultry that includes turkeys and chickens. These are birds that have had no medications, steroids or growth hormones. They are not are egg laying hens. These are chickens bred for high quality meat and fed a higher protein feed and bred to produce a heavier bird then our egg layers. You can get these chickens and in whole or select cuts as available. These are humanly processed at a USDA inspected facility, which we haul ourselves to ensure a humane and comfortable trip.
As with all out animals on the farm - carriage horses, riding horses, beef cattle, pork, egg laying hens, meat birds or turkeys they are all treated with a level of respect. We believe that these animals deserve to be treated humanly and deserve to have comfortable and enriched lives.

The term “heritage” refers to an original breed of pig, which was the majority (in fact the only at one point) found on pig farms before the industrial agriculture boom. Heritage breeds are naturally thrifty, hardy animals that live off the land. Non heritage pigs are being bred and raised for quick turnover, which results in meat that is not only terribly lean, but typically full of additives that are foreign to a pig’s natural makeup unhealthy for human consumption.
Heritage pork naturally has a higher fat content, which makes it hard to overcook. It does not get as tough as conventionally raised pork. In fact, its suggested lean heritage cuts, like pork tenderloin and chops, should be slightly pink when served.
As with all our animals we make sure they are happy, healthy and comfortable. These guys get access to a heated barn to use at their discretion and fans and a wallow pit to play in for summer time.
You can find out current pork prices in the Blog section on this website.
